IMRA Multi-Year Plan

Instructional Materials Review and Approval (IMRA) cycles* are designed to be cumulative, meaning every review cycle will expand to include more subjects and categories of instructional materials while still reviewing the subjects and categories from previous cycles.

Information about IMRA, including details about the cycles, reviewers, and publishers, can be found at

Publishers may submit the to indicate interest in submitting instructional materials for future IMRA cycles.

*Cycle dates are subject to change by the SBOE and approval of aligned quality rubrics.

Rubric Development

The SBOE determines the subject areas and grade bands for which rubrics will be developed, aligned with upcoming IMRA cycles. With input from stakeholder feedback, TEA drafts the rubrics and presents them to the SBOE for initial feedback. Based on this feedback, TEA revises the rubrics and submits them for final approval at a subsequent SBOE meeting. All selected instructional material programs are evaluated and scored using the appropriate IMRA quality rubric corresponding to their program category and type.

The following graphic outlines the anticipated calendar year an IMRA rubric has been or will be developed. Newly created rubrics are typically released several months prior to the relevant IMRA cycle.
